WHY SHOULD WE CARE ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE
Ladies and gentlemen,
Climate change. When we talk about climate change, people react in many ways. Some people don't even know what it means, some people just listen to it as a word or as a phrase, but climate change is a real thing. What exactly is climate change? Climate change refers to long term shifts temperature and weather pattern. Climate change is the biggest threat we face.
The effect of climate change is hotter temperatures, more severe storms and increased drought which caused by generating power, manufacturing goods and cutting down forests. To simplify, human is the one who caused of climate change or I should say you and me are the one who caused climate change. The April 2022 global surface temperature was 0.85°C (1.53°F) above the 20th century average and tied with 2010 as the fifth highest for April in the 143-year record. Have you ever wonder what will happen in the next 10 years if we still did not take any action on this matters? What will happen to you and your family? What will happen to the animal and plants? The world will facing extreme heat, a rise in sea levels, extreme weather and threats to food and water supplies.
This is the time we have to change. I believe every problems always comes with a solution and we could make a huge changes if we do this together. We may not have the power to save the earth, but we have this power and choices to help limit the climate change. The solution is in the palm of our hand, such as the way we travel, to the electricity that we use, the food that we eat, we still have the chance to make a difference. We could start with these five actions:
1. Save energy at home
For your information, our electricity heat is powered by coil, oil and gas. We could use less energy by lowering the heating and cooling, washing your laundry with cold water or use energy efficient electric application.
2. Reduce, reuse, repair and recycle
Electronics, clothes and other items we bought could caused carbon emission at each point in production, from the extraction of raw materials to manufacturing and transporting goods to market. So, buy fewer things, shop second -hand, repair what you can and recycle.
3. Eat more vegetables
Eating more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, and less meat and dairy, can significantly lower your environmental impact. Producing plant-based foods generally results in fewer greenhouse gas emissions and requires less energy, land and water.
4. Consider your travel
To decrease the large amount of fossil fuels which producing significant gas emission, try to take a train, doing carpool or meet people virtually if it's not urgent.
5. Protect the forest and oceans
Forest are curial in the fight against climate change and oceans absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Therefore, we need to protect the forest and oceans instead of destroying them and cutting them off. Plant more and don't throw the rubbish everywhere.
As a conclusion, climate change is a threat to all of us, a threat to the future generation, a threat to you and me. Protecting the earth is our job as a human being, protecting the earth which also means protecting our future generation, our friends and family. I believe we could do everything that we can to save our own future and do the right things. Together we can save the earth.
Thank You.
