This is CK Lam, the CEO of Quoffe Coffee. I'm very proud today though not many audiences watching my speech, perhaps only one or two. Still, I am pleased to be telling you about this company which is changing the world.
Quoffe is the combination of two phrases, Quotes and Coffee. Quoffe focuses on spreading the influence and power of words and the effect of coffee in healing a person's soul. This is a company that wants to save people from negative thoughts, depressions, mental dilemma. Yes, we are a company that wants to protect you from them.
The question is, why are we doing this? According to the World Health Organization, WHO, close to 800 000 people die due to suicide every year. How do we understand this figure? Approximately a whole population of the Melaka state is ending their lives every year.
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, DEPRESSION is present in about half of all suicides. Mental Health, Traumatic Stress, Losing or Fear of Losing, Feeling Like a Burden to Others, Social Isolation and the list goes on.
Ladies and gentlemen, these are facts that we must face, and people call for our help; we can't hear because we chose to ignore their inner sounds. We always feel sad upon acknowledging the loss of every single life, but when they are in the vein of stepping out from the roof, where are we?? I know this isn't a lively topic to cheer your day. This is a wake-up call and also the reason Quoffe is born.
We have a mission, that is to stop people from giving up hopes and even their lives. We will be co-operating with the Malaysia Mental Health Association, MMHA to raise the public awareness. To be concerned about these groups of people who need us, and they are just around us. Using the online platform, we sell coffee with motivational quotes printed, and we are saving our sales for charity.
Through all these efforts we do, we want to reduce the number of people who are getting into depression and making attempts to leave the world silently. This is our vision. We want to rebuild a social environment in which every person will be cared for and concerned. And this will be a world that has at least 50% of suicidal moves reduced.
Ladies and gentlemen,
How will Quoffe be in the future? First, we will be setting up networks of psychological counsellors to be scattered over the society, like how direct sellers are scattered. As people are getting more stressed up as days going, we are ready to calm their emotions and provide series of services that comforts their soul. Of course, coffee would be on the list.
Next, we will be setting up an ecosystem in which people could have a site to fulfil their mental needs. In other words, a healing centre for all people. As we refer to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, we will satisfy the top three layers: people's need for self-actualization, esteem needs, and belonging and love needs. When you are depressed or stressed by your job, walk into our centre, tap into our application, and enjoy the treatment.
Thirdly, we can't stop cyberbully, but we can start a cyber utopia. In this utopia, there will have people sharing their thoughts freely in a strictly polite way. Every user within our ecosystem is being respected and treated as the special one. Your voices will earn applause and respects from everyone within Quoffe. No cyberbully, no uncontrolled speech freedom and no bad words. Even when you feel negative and need to spill out your sad stories, come to Quoffe. There are only people who try to understand and support you.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I believe all these plans may sound like the no-smoking signs on the cigarette box, which frankly doesn't really make people quit smoking. In fact, we had never expected everyone to be a savior of another. But one thing, if there's one day, a person was aware by our messages, noticed a friend in need and bring him back from the vein of giving up his life, it means Quoffe is a success. I had never wished to erase all malice in the world, but today, my speech would make you start concerning the others. I appreciate your change because you are driving humanity away from extinction.
Before I end my speech, please allow me to recite a quote from the worlds' most loving women "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." -Mother Teresa (1910-1997)
